MICHELLE WATKINS-MALEK, MA LPC

Michelle Watkins-Malek is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She earned her BA in psychology from the University of Akron and completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walsh University. Her undergraduate honors research was chosen for publication in the Journal of Vocational Behavior. She is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, recognizing excellence in mental health and counseling services. She is currently working to obtain her independent licensure (LPCC.) Michelle is experienced in home-based family therapy and legally mandated family therapy, having worked previously with child protective services and the juvenile court in both Wayne and Holmes Counties. She provides therapy for depression, anxiety, family conflict, life transitions. Michelle has completed training in The Gottman Method for couples counseling. She is a certified Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) provider. She also completed PAXIS training for parenting. She has also completed specialized training in the neurobiology of trauma and Art Therapy. Michelle is experienced in working with older adults, adults, and teens. She utilizes CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), Adlerian therapy, and Brief Therapy and can also provide treatment using mindfulness and guided imagery. Treatment is tailored to the needs of the individual. Michelle is passionate about issues surrounding the therapeutic treatment of Veterans and First Responders.
